My latest must-have-it-for-my-home purchase is the Dyson DC14 Drive vacuum cleaner. While the price left my husband rolling his eyes and wondering how a simple vacuum cleaner could cost that much more than all the rest, the daily results of using the Dyson DC14 Drive has his eyes open to just how much dirt and pet hair our old vacuum cleaners left behind.
Over the years I have used several different vacuums of varying brands. Invariably they would clog and I would have to jump through hoops to fix the problem. Many times a belt would snap or a vacuum cleaner bag would slip off. Accidentally vacuuming over a small toy or a valuable such as an earring was a nightmare. Digging through a disgusting vacuum cleaner bag was not fun.
The Dyson DC14 Drive does not use vacuum bags. It is a canister vacuum. The canister releases easily with the touch of a button and empties just as simply with another button press. I vacuum daily and with three boys, a husband and a Golden Retriever, my Dyson DC14 Drive has a lot of work to do. It never disappoints me. I fill the canister daily with dirt, dust and pet hair. The vacuum bags of the vacuums I previously used would take weeks to fill and we’re dealing with the same amount of traffic in our home as always. The other vacuums simply were not picking up all of the dirt, dust and pet hair in my carpets.
I love that the Dyson DC14 Drive has a setting for bare floors. It’s a snap to run the vacuum over my non-carpeted floors while I am zooming from room to room. The Dyson DC14 Drive adjusts automatically to carpet height, so there is no guessing which setting to use.
I purchased the Dyson DC14 Drive instead of any other Dyson model because of the car turbine head. This car turbine head attachment makes it easy to suction dirt from tight spaces in a car. Having three young sons and a Golden Retriever who spends spring time riding in our car and shedding all the while, I find this attachment very useful.
This car turbine head attachment is one of several that come with the Dyson DC14 Drive. In addition to the telescopic reach tool that extends from the handle and literally reaches new heights for a vacuum cleaner, the Dyson DC14 Drive has a stiff bristle brush, a flexible crevice tool and three standard Dyson attachments-the stair tool, the regular crevice tool and the brush tool.
The Dyson DC14 Drive is not merely the best cleaning vacuum I have ever owned, it is also the healthiest. Dyson vacuum cleaners come with a lifetime filter that never has to be replaced. (It does have to be cleaned, however.) The Dyson DC14 Drive has been approved by the British Allergy Foundation. It’s expulsion of clean, filtered air helps allergy sufferers (such as my husband) to breathe easier.
As far weight and noise level are concerned, the Dyson DC14 Drive is no worse than the rest. The Dyson DC14 Drive is not a light weight vacuum, but it is no heavier than any vacuum I have used previously. I suppose I expected the Dyson DC14 Drive to be quieter than my old vacuum cleaner, but it is about the same. My only issue is that the stair tool is quite loud and I cannot use it for long before my children complain and my ears hurt.
The Dyson DC14 Drive comes with a five year warranty. I would recommend the Dyson DC14 Drive to anyone looking for a vacuum cleaner with exceptional suction, no risk of clogging and to those who need attachments for car interior vacuuming.
